The Power Of Place

Inspired by Exmouth Beach, East Devon

Therefore, on every tomorrow

we walk on the beach.

The sand binds us to the earth,

to the unseen fire , to the sea.

The sandy wintery wind is a sharp stinging knife

We count  the lighthouse flashes

In between the gusts, we breathe a noble breath

Feel invigorated, restored renewed.

Yes, the beauty within the ever-expanding horizon binds us together

in this place.

Therefore on every tomorrow

we walk on the beach

Take our shoes and socks off, roll up the trousers, paddle in the lapping salty sea.

It is calm today.

Every day is different

Again, we feel the vastness,

We are immersed in the presence

of this place.

Therefore, on every tomorrow

we walk on the beach.

On an early summer morning, the tide is coming towards the shore

The waders await their morning  food

The fishing boats return from the night’s catch

The Sun, the Moon, the Earth line up for the spring tides.

It is an impossible greatness.

We sense, we wonder

Are we also the impossible greatness

in this place?
